Abandoned Ship

Nevermore a worldly crew, to step upon this ship
Nevermore a trite command to pass this captain’s lip

Never will a stranger gaze upon these billowing sails
From shores of old Majorca, or the eyes of highland Gaels

Nevermore to skim along Pacific’s golden crest
Or follow constellation’s pointed finger to the west

No more log to enter pointless deeds of coward’s dare
No more friends to cling to false illusion’s that I bear

No ports of indulgence along this vessel’s course
No more days of sorrow, no undue remorse

I have left to drift at sea the phantom of a ship
Abandoning the empty days of life’s uncharted trip

Now that I have found you, a course is newly marked
Upon an honest, deeper love, my heart has now embarked

Your face glows in a halo, outshining silver moon
Your eyes have depth of beauty the stars cannot consume

Your heart is filled with honor, your spirit with esteem
More splendid that the waters of tropic emerald green

The edge of the horizon is streaked with crimson red
To passion set before me, my trembling heart is led

Never has a journey across the aqua blue
Touched my heart so dearly as the thought of loving you

The sun does seem to be rising in the west lately, doesn't it?... Can't think of a better direction to be set adrift... Nicely done, Lizzie...Hope you had a wonderful family weekend...

As usual I simply adore your poetic talent but I truely am impressed with the cadence of this wonderful work and I liked the two line format and the seemingly effortless use of perfect rhyme.
