~A Kiss Goodnight~

with loving hands she sets in place
upon a doily made of lace
a precious little wooden box
contents safe behind its locks

evenings you can find her there
relaxing in her rocking chair
box wide open to reveal
remnants of a love surreal

every letter fondly sent
penned in words sincerely meant
gently stacked with loving care
have not a wrinkle nor a tear

one by one she opens them
treats each one as priceless gem
soon you'll see her softly smile
in sweet remember for awhile

back into the box they go
gently tied with silken bow
she'll close the lid, turn the key
and kiss goonight his memory

fifty years he held her heart
he swore to her they'd never part
even now he sends his love
a kiss goodnight from up above

~vlraynes

A great big HUG to Marge, for pulling an
all-nighter with me and helping me find
just the right graphic.
I appreciate you!

Exquisitely carved into the heart-strings with a flowing form and aesthetic rhyme.  Very nice work.

Oh this is so touching, makes me think of my Grandmother, with her box of photos, rather than letters. A lovely picture of a love that never truly dies.

Vicky--this is so tenderly written and so touching, to my feeling it went and left me with a tear.

hmmmmmmmmm.....an all nighter with Margie-girl...now that seems like a good reason to NEED a pic. LOL

In all seriousness, this was a beautiful piece with or without the pic and I think you should pat yourself on the back for a treasure of a creation.  Well, heck, someones has to and my arms ain't that long.  Very nice format, way cool images and the constuction is flawless.  Someone has been getting serious about her poetry and it shows.
