State of constant confusion!

0 posted 2001-07-29 10:05 AM

Looking into your eyes
Holding you tight
Seeing your breath
On crisp Autumn nights

The feel of your fingers
Touching my skin
No point in fighting
A war I can't win

The memories they haunt me
And taunt me so
Why can't I forget you?
Why can't I let go?

I've spent a lifetime
Learning to run
Learning to get out
When push came to shove

Your face is so vivid
Here in my mind
Forgetting's an uphill battle
And I'm just too tired to climb

No rest for the weary, and the heart tires fast
Just remember the lesson and learn from the past!

Let my words fall first upon deaf ears before a closed mind...

I see that the struggle of letting go and the pain of remembering is flowing through these forums lately...

Jeffrey, this is well expressed with great flow and rhyme, with an excellent ending that hits hard.  Are you reading my mind?!

Such a tender rendering from your heart.

The point is never to forget;  rather, learn to fondly remember when YOU choose to...

When it starts hurting too much when I think about it...that's when I say to myself "Forget this."   It is not good to suffer too long...but only you know the appropriate time to let go...James

Very good poem. Indeed it captures the attention of the reader and makes them ponder about a similar Uphill Battle they might have contended.

     Reminds me of my gf....
