The valium ran out
and then it wore off
I lost the shield
of a chemical calm...
A trembling child
I fell to his bed
desperate
crypt---at break of dawn...

I could smell
his very essence
in his sheets
I felt his presence
and in the bed
where he'd lain dead
I found oasis
for my head

and slept as though he held my hand...
I felt the warmth of understand...

For three hours
I felt peace.
Once again,
Dad cradled me.

As his memory will, time and time again..for as long as you have thought, then he will be there..very gentle smile

I can relate to this....perhaps not as poignantly as you do, as it was not a death I experienced, but just a long separation from someone I love.  But having experienced that pain, I can only imagine what you are going through.
Oodles of hugs and warm feelings to you...

I love the emotion and realness in this piece. Its a powerful piece and reminds me of family far away.

Is it not in those quiet hours when sleep has come for our tired soul that we get to love and spend time again with those who we had to let go?  Daylight brings the hurt again, but in dreams as in memories those gone do live on.

Let my words fall first upon deaf ears before a closed mind...

Lay quiet in the lap of he, as when a child you did, remember love and used to be, the memories as a kid. Lay quietly in slumber, be well, in God confide, and smile upon the heavens where dad with friends does ride.

Rick

The pain will pass as the memories of his love unite, then giving you peace.

I wanted to thank you all very much...this seems to be the only place I have to talk about it. I appreciate the kindness and compassion so much. It's just hard, he was my rock. I miss him very much.
