A heart is not a block of wood
Though it bears scars the same
Scratches, dents and puncture wounds
     Without any shame

A heart is not a block of wood
     Yet it also splinters
In deserts lacking in oasis,
     Frozen tundras, many winters

A heart is not a block of wood
     Yet still shows its age
Like every sheet of wood pulp,
With each turn of the page

A heart is not a block of wood,
     Yet continues to persevere
'Neath the scattered elements,
     Through the cruelest weather.

No, it isn't a block of wood, but it can be sculpted into a loving work of art, just as the block of wood can also.....this is a wonderful piece and I love the images that you paint within your words!!

The road goes on forever, and the stories never end...

This is so Great!
I like the way you write
with such flow.
Nicely done!
