why do they call it
falling in love?
because, I don't know
about you,
but when I fall,
it hurts

and love shouldn't hurt

love shouldn't be something
that you "fall" into,
something that you
trip and stumble into
like an accident
(although, we sometimes do)

love should be something soft

it should be sitting
down for a surprise lunch,
laughing and sharing
it should be a phone call
in the middle of the afternoon
just to say "I love you"

and so many other things

so, if we're going to
"fall" in love
let's fall slowly, not quickly
that way, if we land

our hearts won't break

---------------------------------------------------------------------

To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world.

Oh that the falling in and out were gentle. Well said Sven.

OH its a great idea, but for some reason, the fall always hurts either at the beginning or at the end. Nice write my friend.

The wisdom of this is appreciated, the application of it...elusive.  I love the way you write love!

Ah Sven...so true...if only it could always work that way.

If you're going to fall anyway, at least have your arms outstretched in front of you so that you can embrace the resolution.  Poignant and well-received, Sven.
