OK, here's my first. This is very difficult for me, but I suppose everyone feels very "exposed" at first.
Out There (Song Of The Streets)

Walking in the winter wind,
cold,
clear-eyed,
I see things that
pierce
my brittle breast.

An aged woman,
shoes shuffling,
holding her hope close about her
like a warm coat.

Strangers,
stashing secret dreams
down deep in private pockets.
Take care, silent ones,
not to give them out
in charitable change.

Fearful faces,
etched in alleyways.

Endangered subway species,
riding rolling ghettos.

Children,
chasing candy-wrapper happiness
into traffic.

Welcome and don't be afraid.  Your writing is specific and descriptive and yes, I can tell you've been writing for many years.  Here, you will receive feedback and to a poet?  That's like bread and butter!
Looking so forward to reading more from you.

WONDERFULY-crafted imagery!!  A hearty welcome to you, Constance.  I especially liked the last stanza and then the one before that and then again, the one before that one, as well.  Very vividy visual and phrased with a sense of uniqueness.  Keen observations on scenery that is hard to take in, but this provokes thought and inspires a desire for change...  Very well done.  I look forward to reading more from you.

Thanks to you all! I've been waiting to exhale, but now I know I can breathe again. I've read many of the poems here and I feel honored to be included. Thanks again.

Well you have me hooked, now my only question is...when do we get to read more??!!
I enjoyed this very much, I felt as though I was watching each scene unfold (enough so that I wanted to run and tell the children to be careful!)

Welcome!!!
I would especially like to echo Janet Marie, but I could echo them all without any qualms. That last stanza was vivid and frightening! It made me think again of how I want to write one about when I was little and now, it seems, that I just was a body following my eyes around, but haven't quite come up with how to convey that without just stating it.
You do very well at conveying your message without having to state what you mean, it's done with 'action'!  Look forward to reading more!

This is an exseptionally good poem. Great job.

Throw your heart out in front of you
And run out to catch it.
