Since I've been on Passions I learned a lot
I knew some forms but the names I did not
For this for instance is a rhyming verse
It rhymes a a b b well it could be worse

But then there is another form as well
Only two rhyming lines is all you need
As I'm too lazy to search matching words
This will be my type of rhyming indeed

Writing of nature
Put in form five-seven-five
A Haiku is born

Five-seven-five dear
Is the form of Senryu
No nature in it

I learned the Tanka
Five-seven-five and some more
This one is my first
They don't rhyme they never did
Tells about all kind of things

Ballade is a tale in verse each line is two times seven
I could tell you for instance about my little blind cat
She is gray and has long hair two paws one head and a tail
She roams about the garden therefore she is always wet
Climbing into trees she likes knows how to get down again
And when she smells a stray dog she makes herself twice as big
She does not make any sounds for she has not learned to speak
Purring she does quite a lot except when she has been sick
Four years and still she's living the vet did not think she could
But my little pet she is sneeking in my bed at night
Hope to have her many years for I love her very much
Blind both eyes was born that way never saw a single light

A crostic am I about to do
C ould this be a verse for you
R est my case in poetry land
O ther things I have on hand
S o I learned a lot you see
T his is what you gave to me
I nner feelings caught in a line
C aring friends I call you mine

I've learned a lot here too.  It is rewarding to study the different forms of poetry and put them to use..enjoyed.

Titia, thanks so much for this poem!  I still have much to learn and I learned a lot just reading this!    You have inspired me to learn more.  I'll have to make my way to the workshop sometime soon!  This is going into my library as a reminder

I must thank you my friends, for you have given me the inspiration.
SmittenKitten, I'm not a member of the workshop, just picked up those forms here and there, although sometimes I take a peek there. Very interesting things going on.

And Sunshine, to live life one needs a little wit and humor.
