Twelve strings of magic
Harnessing 300 years of polished wood
Stroked lightly, brushing cords
Strumming in perfect tone

A distinct and noteable sound
Standing out in concert live
La, de, da, de, de, da, de
La, de, da, de, de, da
La, de, da, de, de, da, de
La, de, da, de, de, da, Drum Beat
On a dark desert highway
Cool wind in my hair
If you know the song I refer to
You can sing it if you dare

Tranced into the melody
I am driven into the night
Feeling wind upon my face
Feeling captured by the moonlight

Even though the song is risque
It matters not to my soul
The twelve strings play for me
I am captive forevermore

Note:
If you got past my literal humming you are an Eagles Fan!

well I don't know the Eagles, but I do know I liked the following stanza best:

Tranced into the melody
I am driven into the night
Feeling wind upon my face
Feeling captured by the moonlight

so i call up the captain
"please bring me my wine"
we haven't had that spirit here
since nineteen sixty-ni-ee-ine.

god bless em, those boys.
i do so love a lady with good taste!!
i am green with envy that you got to see them in concert.....

*sigh*
still those voices are calling from far away...
indeed.

the Bar is always open.
the Time is always right.
if god's lovin Word goes unspoken,
the Music goes all night.

Well, there are others out there!
Janet: Thank you so much! I too think Don Henley is magnificent! He transcends anything I could dream. "The end of Innocence" is also a haunting script. I think I know every word to every song they've ever written. Thank you sister of rhyme and for whatever reason you share my interest in one of the "Greatest" bands there is.

GentleSpirit: Hey! Glad you sang along. Those songs do encapsule great memories in time don't they. You're welcome

VAS: Thank you for reading! I'm glad that stanza caught your eye. I wrote it along with the tempo of the song. It fits, but I'm no Don Henley. Go to any music site, and look up Hotel California by the Eagles. Just to give you an idea. Thank You!

Ethan: You've got it down! You too have excellent taste! I think each song has a verse that clings to someone out there. Thanks for remembering with me.

Sincerely,
Regina

Once again a wonderful poem Regina, which brought me there, I loved the Eagles as well and must come from about the same year, amazing how a song can capture a part of us all and never ever leave. I could feel the wind touching my face and the melody blessing my soul.

Indeed, I found myself humming the melody as I read the words. . . great job. . .

This is wonderful. . . I like the "literary humming. . ." gives us a further idea as to what we're listening to. . .

Such is the power of music and especially a great song.  Nice guitar description, too.
