I Will Give You That

You were persistent.
I will give you that.
Persuading my heart to open
up once more and the only reason I
complied, was because of your
carefully chosen words and seductive
heat, promising happiness, and a
connection of souls that I was longing for.

You were convincing.
I will give you that.
I was so caught up in the moment
that I let all the lessons of
love I had learned, be pushed to
the back of my mind...
Whispering among themselves...
Fool! Fool!
Throwing myself into the chase, so
alive finally, because of the sunshine
you had brought into my life and your
gentle rain to help me grow.

And then you were gone.
I have to give you that.
Leaving me spinning from the shock,
not knowing what hit me.
The warmth of your rays suddenly
cold upon my skin.
Games being played that I could not
quite put my finger on.
And all the while, you saying you
were doing it so as not to hurt me.
Still whispering the sweet names
you called me, to calm my anger,
then once more disappearing when
the storm had passed. Leaving me to
feel more the fool than ever.

Well I am over you now.
You have to give me that.
And you can’t seem to do it.
I can feel you sniffing around the
boundaries of my resistance.
Confused at the strength I have achieved.
Unable to deal with me no longer
twisting in the breeze, waiting patiently
for only you.
I have sparked your interest with the
new smile upon my face, the inner peace
I have found, and the life I can
live without you.
And you plead with your eyes
for me to share it with you.
But I am no longer the fool.
So, no ... I will never give you that.

This is a very old piece I thought I would share today.

Ohhh, yes...do I ever understand this...powerful expression of this feeling, Miranda...I enjoyed this very much!

it was love that first drew me,
it is love that will keep me here...
now I see love burning brightly
when everything else is unclear...
