Them 'Old Geezers'

~*Marge Tindal*~

Oh, sure I know what it supposedly means,
just an old man who's lived out his dreams.
But did you ever stop to think of
exactly what an 'old geezer' is made of ?

Real up-close and personal,
he's usually seen the duties of war.
Laid to rest a buddy or two,
but never the ghosts that haunt him forevermore.

It's easy to spot him in a crowd
as the red, white and blue goes parading by.
He's usually the one with his hand over his heart
and most likely wiping a tear from his eye.

He'll take the time to tell a war story
to a youngster on his knee.
More than willing to open a door
for a lady out on the street.

He'll call you up short for cussin'
when ladies or kids are around.
Then offer to take you fishing,
sharing that secret hole he has found.

Yep !  Them 'old geezers' are something special !
We really should have more of 'em.
The country probably wouldn't have gone to pot,
if we'd listened to the smarts they've got !

Bless you, 'old geezers' for all you possess,
in the wisdom you share ... we are truly blessed.

*I want to extend sincere appreciation
to my brother, Tony, for the inspiration for this one.
Not cause he's an 'old geezer' ... but just because he cares.
Thank you, Tony~

I am extremely proud to say that spending a lot of time around some "old geezers" made me a huge part of who I am, and that is the part I am proud of!  I printed this for three old farts I know who would kiss your cheek if you were here!  Bless your huge, geezer-loving heart Marge!

Good one Sis ! I knew you would do it.

For anyone else I actually got an email
from a ex-Navy buddy of mine about "Old
Geezer's" and it sounded like poem material
to me so I sent it to Marge to see what
she thought and this is the result.

He will now be sent this link so he can
view it also.

If anyone out there is ex-Navy or know
someone that is have them visit my ships
Reunion Association at www.dd-692.com and
sign our guestbook to let us know you
visited.

Love Ya Sis

Marge:  A wonderful tribute to the older generation.  They have so much wisdom for us, if we only give them a chance.  Thanks for writing this.

The older we get the more we seem to appreciate our elders, funny how that works, isn't it?! This is a sweet touch, Marge!

Well, I feel rotten since I'm an old geezer
I used to pant proudly - now I'm just a wheezer
I'm always on guard for some arthritic seizure..
Life sure can be onery when you're an old geezer.

I had me a gal before I became geezer
Though she's still around, I got nothing to please her
From coal in my oven to frost in my freezer
Don't tell me it's great to become an old geezer!

I once was a geyser - now  I'm just a geezer
When other men run I just walk at my leisure
So peel me a grape...let's pretend I am Caesar
I'm so happy, Marge, that you care fro this geezer....

Balladeer~

I hear that you qualify
for the term of 'old geezer'
But I'm here to deny any speculation
that you can't 'please her'

From the state that you're in
she may certainly grin
At the silly verse
that you still pen

So if you still think
that you're not so 'hot'
Be glad you still got
what I know ya' got !

Dulcinea~
Thank you for a lovely reply.
