It Began to Rain

I remembered the pureness of my love
When I was younger and not so sad
I remembered the dreams I had for life
Before I gave in to others demands
I remembered the way I’d seen it then
That love and life were meant to be one
I remembered it seemed only natural
To deny the rain and care for the sun
And when it hurt to remember
I put it all away
The heart of youth finds no peace
In an adults reality
Then one day it began to rain and I stood and let it fall
As it washed away a grown ups tears
I didn’t miss the sun at all
And when a rainbow moved across the sky
I found the years explained
I’d never seen a rainbow
Without first a little rain

In silence I read these lines
for beauty is in them all
I will remember them again
whenever the rain will fall

JLR- we need sun, we need rain somehow we have to try to live with both. And of course for a glimpse of an occational rainbow, what wouldn't we do. This is a great poem. Thanks.

Wow, life explained through a little weather, I loved it!

When clouded by the pain
we wish that we could know
love as fresh as rain
wrapped in a colored bow.
-----
I've always loved the rain...
maybe it's the anticipation.

this is so superb, JLR

you've taken an old adage and spruced it up to a beautiful piece that is gently woven

I must keep a copy, too, too lovely

is it okay????
