“As Is” Words
Virginia Salter

It was Dictionary.com
free to one an all
‘cept for the best words
kept on that far back wall

those words take your soul
they take your heart and mind
those words can build
and, my friend, they well can bind

if you can’t give your all
to the cause to which you write
then you’ve not the price
to have these words tonight

so if sitting on the fence
or skirting ‘bout the edge
is what you’ve in mind
if you only want to hedge

then stay near the front
for words that can lie in apathy
for those that cannot build
only tear away one’s victory

yes, ‘as is’ words
come with not one guarantee
use them as you will
they come ‘full power’ free
