Summer’s Rhyme
Virginia Salter

breezes blow, breezes rise
‘neath the sun, improvise
katydids, mantids fly
seeking substance for supply

grasshoppers and ladybugs
flit around ‘bove slimy slugs
gardens lie in summer’s wake
growing up a bar-b-bake

taters, maters, carrots, too
teaming up to build a stew
toiling toward a harvest time
in this lovely summer clime

corn and melons sing of sun
peaches, cots, apples spun
luscious treats gift our tongues
summer winds fill our lungs

sunshine’s glow fills the day
flowers, trees swing and sway
children, puppies prance the park
crayfish, guppies on your mark

it’s a race to autumn’s day
when the Piper gets his pay
and the world is all aglow
‘fore the rains turn into snow

Very enjoyable read, VAS, reminds me of summer days spent in the country with family as a child...

Enjoyed yes, I enjoyed, All of the fruits and vegtables make me hungry, Vitimins

Throw your heart out in front of you
And run out to catch it.
