Grandmother’s Touch
Virginia Salter

lip-smacking
finger-lickin’ good
table
laden for health,
well olde world health,
and savor
mostly savor
home-canned
home-crocked
home-baked
well-stocked

kitchen scents
only
allowed to keep their stay

hugs
laughter
family
the wreath that donned
her realm

no spot
held for later days
all was at avail
to sit
to talk
to lie at rest
no need for tooth and nail

her sons
the brothers three
one day
one night
the other some between
yet loved because
as prize
both give and take
made them family
and spoke of who she was
