Angel

Never seen and never  heard,
No answer to the spoken word
But touch of love in whispered breath
And harbor for your times of stress

She hovers over you in sleep
In hours when dreams are real and deep
And spreads her wings above your bed
And shines a halo round your head

She stands behind in vigil’s hour
Beside you when you bloom to flower
She walks before the path you plod
And reaches out the hand of God

In restless nights of sorrow’s gloom
She shines an opalescent moon
And casts a light upon your soul
That you may see the inner goal

Then in a dream it comes to you
This sorrow that is real and true
It must be lived, it must be felt
The piercing blow that you’ve been dealt

It’s just as much a valid part
As joys that linger in your heart
In time your eyes will shine anew
In all the love surrounding you

The grief turns into memories
And whispers through the swaying trees
The past that’s etched into the eye
Is joy and love in days gone by

If I could have an angel lay
A wish upon this coming day
I’d ask that you be wrapped in white
Of angel feathers soft and light

That splendid tunes would dry a tear
An angel harp to touch your ear
An opal moon to shine you light
A whispered breath to say good-night

With much love
Elizabeth Santos

This is lovely and comforting, I'm sure it will bring serenity and her mother some solace.  You're a true friend for penning this for her

Oh Liz...typing through tears and trembling fingers...what a lovely---no BEAUTIFUL poem you have written for her. I will bring this to her--mornings have been particularly hard for her as that was "their" time. Once again, I am overwhelmed. I very humbly thank you.

Serenity
The question you asked, I could only answer in poetry. May God's love light your way through this difficult time, and may your mother know that there is an angel watching over her.
Thank you, dear poets for your comments.
My love and best wishes to you, Serenity, and to your family
Liz

Oh Elizabeth your heart is showing, and what a brilliant light - it is almost blinding with love.  Simply lovely and I know it will warm her heart.
