Dark Purple Wine

Candlelight, starlight and dark purple wine
Spun in a memory with silvery twine
Blue of the midnight swirls round in the breeze
Ripples of moonglow dance over the seas

Only an instant that passed in the wind
A table for two on a balcony’s rim
Eyes made of jewels that reflected the glow
And Montego Bay looking up from below

Lost are the senses in lanterns and wine
And intimate talk with your hands pressing mine
A long smiling squint and a look from afar
In a puff laced with fragrance of Cuban cigar

The moments pass by and the music is gone
And blue midnight visions awake with the dawn
I’ve wrapped them in heartbeats with silvery twine
These long ago memories that only are mine

The stain of this memory is heavily symbolic in that which was the best, will remain with you throughout....

Excellence again from the pen of Lady Santos...

THank you so much for your gracious comments to this poem. This memoru is from not too long ago, when my husband and I sat on a restaurant balcony and talked for hours

this is so gorgeous...the first stanza placed me beneath Van Gogh's Starry Night, the rest was experiencing that with a special someone...absolutely lovely, Elizabeth...thanks for sharing your experience

This is just beautiful. I have been lately trying to combine writes about wine and love and memories, and you have done a spectacular one here.

What a gift to be able to paint pictures with words from your mind so vividly I could almost hear the lapping of the waves.
