Wakes with sunrise bright and early
Rolls his swag and ties it tight
At the river cleanses night dreams
Catching breakfast with his sight

A friend and part of bush and nature
Happiest in solitude
Fears not bush and all her creatures
The city life does well elude

Where else can a man be freer?
Than where trees they touch the sky
Where rivers run till no tomorrow
Where beauty lives and birds they fly

A hat of leather shades his noggin
Facing now the sun above
On a track of new he wanders
Within the bush he so does love

Watching, learning natures habits
Each day new she gives him more
At one with self, nobody needing
Abiding well to bush, its law

Then to sleep with stars above him
Trees that wave the day goodnight
Feeling earth beneath his body
Then his body joins the night

Just the rustle of the gum leaves
Calling voices, creatures near
The sound of water flowing quickly
Is the bush, that none should fear

“The good life of a bushman”

Yes, each world does indeed have a law in and of itself...

and somehow I even hear the accent...

a good, solid, enjoyable read!

Enjoyed!  I hadn't looked at where you were from, but it sounded like you knew your subject so well, I decided you must be from Australia.

Vivid, very vivid, you took this reader right there!

I guess if he finds a stream & washes his cloths, & cooks his food properly he may be the happiest man alive.Really enjoyed your poem.

Sounds awfully inviting. So when can we all come for a visit?

An enjoyable ride, this poem.

So content! I bet there is mystery in that wonderland too! Australia...a million miles away..but you brought it here so vividly. Great read. Tell us more!
Sincerely,
Rwood

P.S. Thanks for the inspiration. Message heeded and appreciated!
