The Best of Times

Time is written on my face
Labor on my hands
Feet are worn from daily pace
The brow marks life’s demands

In open palm is lifeline’s crease
Where present love exists
And on my lip the soothing peace
Of memories of a kiss

Within the heart my dreams are traced
Within the mind a quest
And all the age upon my face
Is only time at best

No way to know what lies ahead
No way to count the hours
But love has come in shades of red
In silence of a flower

The lilting hymns of love’s own psalm
A sonnet’s lyric phrase
Have settled in my weathered palm
In these, the best of days

Life is etched upon my brow
In ways that can’t be altered now
Love is written on my face
In filtered light of silken lace

wonderfully written. The only way to truly enjoy your poetry is to read them aloud, so they can sing in their beauty.

I am with Mike - I have started reading yours aloud, and they have so much more depth and joy.  I loved this one, and of course went from her to the satin sheets, and then looked for the missing one ...lol...this was lovely.
