He Bends his Head as the Light Fades

Here, in the quiet hush of room
where the scrape of a chair
falls heavy on the ear,
he searches in words
for dreams and answers
and finds only
that he question his dreams.

The road is not clearly marked
as it narrows to a fork.
Which way? His heart asks.

Where does he start
when telling the heart?
On paper plates of yearning
or between the words
is a meaning
that can’t be told.

He writes,
you think that you’re the only one
that’s been on the bottom rung of life
until you recognize a face
that was headed down
as you were headed up.

And,
hope is a life raft
despair can hold when it travels
through dreams that might come true.

Then,
sometimes from
a desperate place
drawn from the strength
of a souls survival
comes the answer.

He bends his head as the light fades
into evening.

Martie~
Just so beautifully profound.
You are blessed with magic thoughts that you share so willingly.
Thank you, dear friend.

Martie,
Your poetry is beautiful but between the lines is the essence of its beauty. Enjoyed

Allow me to ditto Sy..for he said it far more perfect and succinctly poetic than I would in my long winded worship

LIKE IT ALL, but especially this:

And,
hope is a life raft
despair can hold when it travels
through dreams that might come true.

Beautifully done Martie, and my practice exactly - when all else fails, hand it over!  Great advise as well.
