I used to think it was because of the words that I was great, now I look back and only see the tears I cried within the words.

simple attrition

one by one the shadows fall
worn away by tears and time
scattered leaves that float away
withered and past their prime
heart full of aching memories
images burned in my mind
carried off on a fiery wind
searing heat to make me blind
it's simple attrition, one by one
a reckless attempt to come undone
playing a game that no one has won
it's simple attrition, one by one
from the lustful desires
of a fading fall
lonely hearts seek
a respite from it all
so they reach out and grab
at the first little sign
but its only a twig
instead of a vine
it's simple attrition, two by two
something you say, something you do
close your eyes and wish your dreams come true
it's simple attrition, two by two

sometimes it's the game that makes you fade
others it's the way of life
but for me, I fade because my time is gone
and I'm fading, fading, into the wild blue
as a final goodbye, thanks for being there. your words and silence were the chords that kept me together. just because I'm leaving, doesn't mean you aren't my friends any longer. if you see me, drop a line.

des.....I will miss reading your words. Though we did not know eachother well, you became a part of a family I do charish.

Enjoy the minutes and let the hours take care of themselves. Write to purge your soul and cleanse your thoughts. Hold on to your friends for in the end they are all that really matter.

As I read your poem, I was thinking how great it was to see your work again... so my spirits plunged as I read the ending. I wish you the very best, des... for that's what you've consistently given us.

I'm hoping that all here is poetry, my friend...and only poetry. I sense you're dealing with yourself these days. I wish you the best in that.

The poem...What can I say. Its honest and rawly you.  I've gotten the chance to watch your writing grow deeper and deeper over the past few years. (((HUGS)))
