Listening to every heart

0 posted 2001-07-22 09:41 PM

our solitary man

following reasons still unknown
traveling the roads, all your own
style is called upon to bear
as you cast songs to the air

solitary man

you’re our solitary man

many followed with delight
you weaved songs in star’s light
taking us throughout long nights
in your dreams wrapped so tight

solitary man

you’re our solitary man

no simple life you have led
as your muse kept you fed
with words of grace and wisdom clear
only space has held you near

solitary man

you’re our solitary man

you sung your songs to me
encased in class and mystery
clapping hands won’t set you free
you give yourself to harmony

solitary man

you’re our solitary man

no one tells you how to do
what you do so splendidly
then you transform once again
bringing smiles repeatedly

solitary man

you’re our solitary man

you, a heart’s beat in my youth
in my pain you were my sure
as you always sang the truth
in your voice I found my cure

solitary man

you’re our solitary man

your obsession for finding words
that Obsession I have heard
here within the heart of me
so in truth it’s why I see a

solitary man

you’re our solitary man

you’re a little grayer now
you’re a bit more sagacious now
but the beat and words are there
as your songs still hit the air

solitary man

you’re our solitary man

beautiful, nice touch not naming who the solitary man is, leaving me and others to relate it to their own solitary man if they can

Though dreams can be deceiving
Like faces are to hearts
They serve for sweet relieving
When fantasy and reality lie too far apart
- Fiona Apple
