Nan's Jaguar, What a Cat!

I knew that she was coming
When I heard that eerie sound
As she scraped up half my driveway
With her muffler to the ground

She pulled up ostentatiously
With blinkers all aflash
And they blinked and blinked til Nan found
Blinker buttons on the dash

It's her sleek and classy Jaguar
With a coat of charcoal grey
That takes her on her gypsy tour
Around the USA

This jaguar is a feline
With an independent streak
Whose doors cannot be opened
By the lazy or the meek

For there’s a secret code of sorts
Encrypted in each door
And Nan’s the only one who knows
The formula for sure

The driver has to down the window
This, there is no doubt
And pull the outside handle up
In order to get out

The passenger must kick the door
Abruptly with the shin
And jerk the handle firmy up
In order to get in

I‘m not privy to the back doors’
Hidden quirks or subtle wiles
But the gas cap lid is opened
With long fingernail or file

This Jaguar’s quite a beauty
With her classy silhouette
And turns more heads when we drive by
Than any old Corvette

As passenger, I’m privileged
Though the seat belt needs repair
So my foot keeps pressing imaginary
Brakes that aren’t there

That feline is a princess
And Nan’s the only one
Who knows her eccentricities
And that’s what makes her fun

A Jaguar that has character
And Nan is proud to say
She loves her car and wouldn’t have it
Any other way

What a cat!!

Um... All true, I'm afraid... yep... 'cept I didn't know about the brake pedal that's not really there... I'll see if I can get one installed before our next excursion, Lizzie...

This is VERY funny, my friend... I love it...

this is so absolutely delightful!!!!I can almost hear it, too.  What a wonderfully penned piece.  I'd love to send copies to a couple friends who'd get a delight out of it as well...can I , can I, can I?

Sounds just like the car I had before, except it was no jaguar

You wrote this so well Elizabeth.

Thank you, Melton

Nan, No need to install a real one. The imaginary brake works fine!

Sy, THanks for the comment

VAS, Feel free to make copies, and thank you for commenting

Titia, Yes , this one has character. I hope Nan never trades it in for a car like mine, which has no personality whatsoever
THank you

LizzieLady~

I'm sure her NaniNess has it purring
With so much energy it's just stirring
Sleek and trim it fits the mode
Of poetic rambles down the road

Then with MissLizzie on the passenger side
I am sure the Jag gives them both quite a ride
Off they go, these touring hep cats
What's that rattle ? .... NO ... not that !

LOL !

What joy and fun you both are
Riding in the pretty Jaguar
Looking in the mirrored rear-view
Oh no ! A Cleri-Cop Hew !

Nan ... I should get extra credit in the Poetry Workshop for this !
Right, Lizzie ?

Yep, it's all true , but it is a purrty car.
We're just Thelma and Louise cruisin' around
in a long and classy Jag
THanks, Marge for the poem. If you hear a
loud scraping noise coming up your driveway
you'll know it's Thelma (I mean Nan)
Thank you all for the comments

Methinks this needs a bit more go-around downtown...

Nan?  Ever been to Pasadena?
