The tears we shed for ones we lose,
are only the tribute of how we choose.
To choose of what they meant to us
of memories dear and loving trust.
The trust of knowing we were loved,
from words and actions of the beloved.

No greater gift do we receive,
then have what’s left after they leave.
For when all is over and said and done,
sweet memories to last is all they won.
To have and to hold even as we weep,
living forever in our minds we do keep.

Give mind free rein to backward look,
to hold in the soul a very thick book.
A book of memories from early day one,
each page a treasure of said and done.
So weep not for me, loved ones behind,
for I never do leave, I stay in your mind.

Yes, we will never forget. How lovely this rings true. "Some people make a good impression. Some leave impressions within you forevermore". We can only thank them for this by living onward. Wonderfully written.
