                  “SOFTNESS OF THE RAIN”
                                     by

                                    ~~~~
Have you ever felt the falling rain, kissing your pretty face,
as it came down on your shoulders, while you stood there,
                      in all of your grace…
Did you ever sing a pretty ballad, about the falling rain when it fell,
knowing the drops would touch the ground, and no matter what,
                      they would never tell…
Never would they say, how you sang, or paid them your tribune,
or as you shared with them a tender love song, when they fell,
                      in the late afternoon…
The rain kisses me sweet, touching my face falling from the sky,
I must sing out, as I love to sing to the loveliness of you,
                      as you fall and drop on by…
I raise my arms to the heavens, and close my eyes to listen for you,
and you fall down all over my being, with a sweet softness,
                      that I want to continue…
Come down sweet rain, touch me and cleanse my soul,
I love the feeling of you, and I trust in your tenderness,
                      for it makes me whole…
this has some wonderfully lovely lines and thoughts Bill
I'm kind of wondering if a free verse approach would enhance the feeling of intermittent raindrops alighting and kissing you gently
just a thought
