~~~ The portrait  of her ~~~
He sat down…..
Mesmerized
Frozen at the sight
Of the portrait of her
The enchanting magic
Of seeing
A replica of her
He traced it
As if tracing a dream
Breathed in
The scent of the painting
For she has surely breathed it too
He looked
Looked
And looked
Forever it seems
A spark of an idea
Came to him
And he decided
to draw his own portrait
Of her
Draw it with words
Words…..
alphabets
The magical brush of utterances
He sat down
Putting all words before him
Looking at each and every letter
Trying to select those
Which would
Dance perfectly to the rhythm
He wants it to be played
The rhythm of his own heart
As he draws this picture of her
A little blush over
The petal like cheeks
And words subside for a while
Expressing the blush of her
Under his gaze
A little smile
And all the words stand
Still
Beside each other in a raw
Expressing that enchanting smile
Small
Eloquent
Yet radiant
A twinkle in the eye
And the stars of words
Rush
To try to capture
The shining eyes
The lashes…..
Delicate as they are
Could there be such a delicate brush
Of words
To paint them?
He must heed
The utterances
That fit….
He summoned words
Words of few letters
but they must be
Long when
Pronounced by thee
And what of the eyes…the lips…..
the all beauty of her….
beauty that he knows
much more than
the artist who agonized over
all the details of her
he knows that it resides deep
deeper than the lines which
any brush could paint....
Could he ever find
Words to paint all that?
The most eloquent
And poetical utterances
Stood before him
Waiting for him to choose
The best
he looked at them
Up and down
Searched
Listened
Wondered
Thought he found one
Then Another
Turned the words up side down
For long
And they lost consciousness
At that awkward position.
Seeing that….
He dismissed them all
Sighed
And ah……….
That would do…..
For she would see
The words lost
As they stand
Before the altar
Of her
Oh what a portrait
Of agony
Of despair
For in each line he drew
He fell in despair
Again
And again
Of finding the right
Words to say
To paint
The magic of her
Along the way….
*stunned*
the ultimate sacrifice of the artist??  to give all for the perfect portrait of love. . . to find just the perfect things to express the love of his heart, his soul. . . is this what we strive for???
perhaps. . . but, do we really know just what it is to "paint the perfect portrait"?
these questions are put forth here. . . the answers??  well, they lie in the heart. . .
this is superbly wonderful Enchanted Melody. . . just like a dream. . .
Cascading with cashmere torrents of dilemma and futility...  some things are meant to be seen, others heard, while others...  experienced.  A beautiful write, MEM.
Dear ~Sven~
We would forever stutter on the verge of words trying to put forth all that we feel…….all that love that our souls …..our hearts could reach (even if it is just in our thoughts)
“but, do we really know just what it is to "paint the perfect portrait"?”
Do we really know?……… DO we really understand?……… but perfection has never been our realm……..
And yes………I ,too, feel the answers to such questions all lie in the heart……. If we could only look deep …..and manage to perfectly decipher all that it says…….
“just like a dream”………and only a dream it could be…..
Thousands thanks dear friend for such an uplifting comment……
“some things are meant to be seen, others heard, while others...  experienced.” And some are meant to be felt ……….but we’d struggle forever, it seems, to put them into words…… Would we ever succeed?…….
Thank you dearly for the really wonderful comment……..I really loved the way you let it cascade with cashmere torrents……
Thank you
Written with a pen dipped in the blood  of a mournful heart.   To pen what is in one's heart is a work of art that only the artist knows from where it comes. I stand with much admiration and applaud   a masterpiece. I could feel the longing in every single utterance. Kudos! Love and peace ((~.~))
Enchanting poem by an enchanting name. If we could only grasp that which descibes the whole of the one we love. So hard to do. I really enjoyed this.
Sincerely,
