A Child's Gift

Quite moments of enraptured grace,
A happy smile from woeful face.
Erupted laugh which can't be stilled,
All other thoughts completely filled.

A fevered head in still of night,
A mother's heart so full of fright.
A tired smile come morning's dawn,
Completely now all fear is gone.

Frustrated moments, "Do you hear?"
"Your grounded though I love you dear."
Proud moments of accomplishment
When finally he learned to pitch a tent.

Each hair in place, she is a doll,
She's dressed all up as for a ball.
A gleaming smile, a fancy twirl,
Then up a tree goes little girl.

A bloody lip, a broken arm,
A teary face so full of charm.
A torn up knee, ten stitches counted,
A second time that bike is mounted.

Remember days of childhood bliss,
For in my heart each day is stitched.
In timeless love and memory,
Each tear once wiped, each bloodied knee.

The greatest gifts I've ever known,
Are little ones I call my own.

This is lovely Marilyn, as spoken from the hidden recesses of a true Mother's heart.
It is so reminecent  to me of Mary, who not understand all about her special Son, pondered them in her heart.

So motherly sweet and cherishing. I miss the little days. Mine are teens now. They don't like it anymore if you come near them with Band-Aids.   But I still treasure them as my gifts from above.
Sincerely,
Rwood

Your words were stirring, my children are teenagers as well. Though they've no use for me now I know they will remember their childhood fondly. I miss the days of their dependence. Thanks.
