If I could be God for just one night
I could turn all the wrongs into right

Heaven would be here among us
And for all, a never ending justice
Gone would be all the imagery
Of countless evil catastrophe

What a fantastic blessed sight
If I could be God for just one night

Never again tears of a mother shed
Wasted on yet another innocent dead
Too late to save one lost soul
From a darkening stranglehold

Absence of fear, of any mortal fright
If I could be God for just one night

Think of all the good which is gained
Think of an unknown thing such as pain
Behold all which is shone
When love is finely honed

What warmth from peaceful light
If I could be God for just one night

All the children would be saved
As I send back the shadows with a wave
And the wrongs all undone
Together as one

We are love, shining bright
If I could be God for just one night

If only I could be God tonight

nicely done...
although... without the struggles and the pain... would we truly know how to appreciate the glory and the good?

very nicely done...though one does have to wonder, God is God, and he doesn't do these things...*shakes her head* I just find it hard to understand how he can stand by and let the innocent ones suffer...

Thank you. I wrote this to stimulate conversation as well as to provide an outlet for some of my beliefs about spirituality...

Sometimes it would be just enough if I could be me....

but yes, much food for thought, and definitely much for discussion!  [Which might get it moved to philosophy! {~,^} ]

What is interesting is that God put all the  feelings and desires into place...he knows our happiness and he feels our pain...James

I don't think I could handle being God....
I think just having one night of what I want, a dream come true kind of deal, would be cool. But I'd settle for dinner and dancing  ( and not being called mom every two seconds) LOL   I liked this, and the ideas in it

I could do this. . . but only for that night. . . but. . . I would probably have the debate within myself about emotions vs. intellect. . .

a superb poem PK. . . well done. . .

A controversial read! But, it does make us think of our beliefs and faith. As one already mentioned, God is *not* the one making things happen or not happen..... that is in our human control. We were (I believe) given the gift of choice... and what we choose today makes our tomorrows... your well delivered piece makes me think that I have the power to change what I can and choice to make a difference.. thanks for sharing   ((~.~))

Thought provoking...yes.  But if you were god you'd probably be too busy to write poetry and that would be a shame.  Enjoyed!

The fact that you wrote this caring piece shows that you have a tender heart    I'm sure we all would heal the world from pain if we could, and you expressed it well~
