Beneath The Sand

Hot sultry air, cool green sea
screeching gulls in the salty breeze
parched wood on bleached sand
sparkles run between my fingers
like sifting fine diamonds
I stop and stare at the open sea
like the ocean, there’s no end to memories
long walks, endless talk
saved the very best shells
now the memories rest
with buried footprints
a treasure beneath the sand
resting, but not dead
