I'm really missing my dad.

Somewhere Other Than Gone

It's going to be hard to say what's here on my mind
Because,Dad, your face has really hit me hard this time
And,lying here your memory was all I could take
Dad,that smile of yours made this sad heart break...

I kept thinking where you may have been all along
God,how I wish it was somewhere other than gone
And,last night I waited for you to end these tears
But,only I found the miles to my lonliest years...

Somewhere other than gone I may find you someday
But, if you are lost out there I'll never find my way
You used to hold the promise to us to last forever
That true families at heart stay one together...

So, with these words and all we have ever gone through
Why, Dad, that day, didn't you let me go, too?
Because I was told that I must just walk away
And, how do you think, Dad, I felt that day?...

What I really wanted was to close my eyes
So, that together and always we'd be side by side
But, I stood alone and let the angels sing
And, beared the lifetime sadness your leaving would bring...

I'm holding out my hands, Dad, to the heavens tonight
So, reach out to me and hold on tight
Like before be with me when I can't go on
And, let me find you, Dad, somewhere other than gone...

Have you ever known the color grey when the nighttime finds you weak
I have, I've walked that road each time; that's where my angel sleeps

Saunni~
Really a difficult time ...
Know that friends here hold your hand through hard times
as well as through joyous times.

Saunni
I only had to read the first line before I was in tears at this heartwrenching piece of writing that I could relate to so very easily after losing my father to cancer two years ago.  The pain just doesn't and won't go away for me and I can tell it must be the same for you.  My thoughts are with you. Please take care.......Sue

Saunni my friend. . . having lost my own Dad, I can understand some of the feelings that you're having here. . . and it's good that you're getting them out like this. . .

know that there are always people who are willing to help, and to listen. . . this poem is full of your heart. . . and of the soul of a Father who I know is very proud of his Daughter. . .

This is incredibly sad and so very beautiful. The love just shines through - from the title through the last line. I think many of us can relate to the grief you've written so well.

Beautifully touching, it''s just full of the love you feel for your father. Quit a tribute.

Sad, so full of wishes that are not able to happen. I lost my Dad twice, first through divorce, then through death this year. Somewhere other than gone..thats a wonderful line, and it says so much.
Take care.
