Buried under a blanket of darkness
Lies a small pink bud.......
Baby girl,
soft,
pink,
fragrant.
Surrounded by a golden yellow glow.

Enter the horror,  terror,
A perverse man
Known as "daddy"
His abuse,
and lies,
and secrets
Bury the rose
Under a blackness
Of pain and shame.

Years and years pile on top of each other
Until,
By the time she's an adult
She's become a fake
A plastic,
artificial person.

Whatever you want from her
She'll do----
The best that she can--
She works so hard
To make others happy.

The blanket of pain is whitewashed
And appears to be happiness
But,
Deep inside it hurts.

Enter the healing touch
Of a friend.
From the purple haze
A blue light breaks through the blackness
To illuminate the small pink bud.

The work begins--
Slow,
Tedious,
Painful,
Each step reducing the facade.
Melting the trashy,
Plastic petals.
Bringing the true rose
in the warm glow of love.

Love, support, healing,  nurturing,
Allows this bud to begin to grow
Slowly,
The woman unfolds
To Finally break free-
A PERFECT COMPLETE ROSE.

...with a fragrance to be appreciated by all, I might add.  There is always potential lying dormant until someone special discovers it and waters it...  Congradulations.

Well... I agree with Mark first of all and would add... it is with growth that we learn to bloom, and we rarely have the choice of where we are planted...sometimes in stones, sometimes in fertile ground... I would say those that grow in stones...are a bit tougher... and the smell of success..a bit sweeter.

Congrats on making it

a fine piece here and I love the beginning of the promise of this stanza:

Enter the healing touch
Of a friend.
From the purple haze
A blue light breaks through the blackness
To illuminate the small pink bud.

I thank your friend for the support he/she has given, allowing you to bloom to the realization that you are a perfect rose.  Good work, Lisann.

Thank you for sharing your journey..you are not alone..healing does take time and patience and effort..but like a garderner caring for the roses the blooming is worth it.
