An arrow fitted to the string
may not the game to table bring
lest those who'd in this manner kill
possess some small amount of skill

And of this skill one must say this
'tis not by chance to hit or miss
the mark on which one sets their eye
but what comes of the will to try

For fear of failure's killed more souls
hid from their sights a greater goal
and left their hearts to lie in ruin
so bow to fear and shoot the moon

There are a few poets here that I admire for their play on words, especially when entwined with great wit...and skill...

and you, Doc, are one of them...

I didn't know where you were headed with your poem until the very last line...
and that last line in combination with the rest of your poem left a very motivating message in my heart....  regardless of my lack or accomplished skill, shoot for the moon.

Most excellent Sir Doc!  Your words have scored the center of truth.  However, I feel I must warn you that in such contests I usually arm myself with a ballista!  Good to see you my friend... Peace!

My thanks to you all . I have somehow turned into a bit of a recluse ( yes that does rhyme ). So be it . As always your comments are much appreciated .
