The Piano Sonnet

Tiny fingers touch the keys of Mother
Reaching out to hold music in her hand.
Through ivory, his song's like none other;
Played from his heart in soul's angelic band.
"Because He lives, I can face tomorrow"
Singing, "Because He lives all fear is gone."
In the absence of all death and sorrow,
Little fingers on keyboard still play on...
Upon edge of mantle, Mother's staring--
Looks down from heaven with a smile forlorn.
From her picture seen within her caring,
Her little baby sings of life reborn.
Today, a man takes from his Mother's heart
And plays a song that death cannot impart.

Ah Bob...you have tripped the heartstrings with this one...for many reasons, it is a keeper, and I shall keep it very well.

I only wish I could send it out....

Thank you for your kind responses and you are correct... I did write this poem from my heart and I do hope that one day I will be able to take your kindness that has touched my heart and present it to the one for whom this sonnet was written......... My Mother.

Beautiful expression of our first love, our mother. And all too often we don't let our mothers know how much we love them. Thanks Lighthousebob for this lovely one.

Dear Bob. I am touched by the love written here for your mother. The music played in your verse and I felt such warmth in the melody. Thank you for sharing your heart.
Sincerely,

When you write from your heart the world becomes a more peaceful journey of beauty.  What an exquisite poem and of course you have penned it with perfection.  The cadence is superb, the words and images are a treat and the emotions nothing less than pure harmony to read.  Well done sir.
