The Sand Dollar
By: Noah Eaton
7/17/01

On the Washington coast I walk down the beach alone
Balancing my laments with blessings in breathing the crisp air
Searching yet for something to ease my emptiness, to welcome me
To touch light upon the quiet water, be surrounded in praise

That’s when I look down at the sand to see that familiar window
A Window Of Divinity bearing forth the name of Jesus Christ
I scoop it into my hands to stare further into the Star Of Bethelem
Tracing my fingers down the engravings, appraising this omen

This calyx bears the Wise Man, that all of humanity strives to become
Marked on ancient stone, impregnable blood of good-will warming in loving care
Pieces of the everything coming ashore, His word hand-crafted
Reminding us that fortune truly helps those that make the most of good judgment

My thumb rests on the Christmas Lily to the head, a token of giving and sharing
I reflect upon all those warm loving winters with my family, just seeing this touchstone
All the while I ignite this afterglow of my fondest memories
Understanding the fact that this flower will blossom every year, only imagining too many future reunions

Five holes mark the cornerstones, all the many wounds our Lamb have beared
Crucifixion bearing new hope, His blood belonging now to five Doves Of Peace
Such those are seen when breaking this sacred dollar apart
Breeding for a stalwart sake to further dedicate the resilience of I Am

I hug this disc close to my heart, blessed by this priceless gift
Forgetting all my emptiness in staring through this lost girasol, contemplating
“Would it be wise to break this flower apart to sacrifice the segregation of the doves?
To take this chance, establish a risk that every dove alone can achieve their own reason

That’s when I look back into the flower again, realizing this resembles the all-being
That to be guided by five doves together is just as if He is walking beside me
To deify the greatest love is to be fulfilled with a unified guidance
Immortal is one love, one calling, the Five Hearts Of Wisdom mingled

Awareness can only be perceived through the many windows of His world
Open to all faithful eyes, found in a flower, a star’s wink, a bird’s whistle, every natural endowment
I share this window to all of you, to reveal such a window I have encountered
Something that I will carry on my distant journey to His honor, to maticulate into His light

I've always loved sand dollars and never understood their significance until now.  A funny thing is that I have always concidered the whole ones more valuable and have thrown the broken ones away.....  but even then, our Savior was broken for us and in this even the boken are beautiful.  A very informative writing.
