WORDS

There are times,
In my more lucid moments
Of reality,
When eyes
Long fogged over by life’s
“crueler moments”
clear
to the image of you.
And I think to myself,
Ahhhhhhhh,
This is what I have
Stayed alive for.
So,
How do I tell you?
There are only words,
And they are so lacking
When I see your eyes
Or how the corners of your mouth
Turn up
In a silent smile
Meant but for me.
Our private joke.
Just one of the small things
Shared by two.
A joining factor.
Uniting two spirits
That were lost
In this great world
Until the powers that be
Brought them together.
Completeness.
For in you
I’ve found the counterpart
To that lost portion of my soul
That I long ago
Gave up for dead.
Mere words.
But they are all I possess
To give you.
Words.
I love you.

An interesting read, Sandra...Your critic flag leaves little room for one to make suggestions, so I shall keep mine to me...

but know I enjoyed it!

sandra, a reflection on sadness and loneliness with some brightness at the end.
I hope that the love you have found can make up for the pain that went before. Thanks for sharing, enjoyed the read

I think the greatest compliment a writer can receive is to take a bit of imagery, of heartfelt dreams, and spin them into a tale that others will believe is reality. Thank you for seeing "life" in these, my words.
