Your letter from jail so touched me,
and it came not a moment too soon.
suddenly 'tis I who's not free,
though you're trapped in a concrete cocoon.

For the truth of your spirit's arising,
while mine's trapped in anger and blame.
warm words pierce cold heart cauterizing,
now my head hangs in sorrow and shame.

For while I enjoy the wind and sun,
you're confined in a grey sleepless place,
I can open the door for a walk or run,
the best you can do is pace.

The visions you pen, message of hope,
fine drawings, prayers, sweet prose.
given the circumstances with which you cope,
I find humble my trivial woes.

Imagine me brewing despondence,
while your good heart finds peace in jail,
the red letters stamped 'Inmate Correspondence'
breath fresh care when I open my mail.

nicely done... lots to ponder here...  especially our trivial problems...and how they fit into the broader sense of things..

Thanks for this one... now I got to go think a while.

Sometimes life is easier in jail ... not usually.  That one in jail can write bright, inspirational pieces is almost amazing.  Glad it got your attention.  But, then, you've walked a mile in his shoes.  Bless you my friend.

it is so easy to imprison ourselves though all the locks be loosed

just as the more handicapped may be the one with no physical challenges whatsoever

fantastic write RS!

Definitely a mind-full of relativity here, and once again, a reafirmation regarding frame-of-mind and perspective...  to find the positive in all situations, no matter how terrible they may appear to be...
