A solitary drop of rain
Alights softly on my bare skin
I lift my eyes to the heavens
Now overcast and dim
One drop befalls another
I hear my own voice say
As I slowly close the door
Well, there goes my whole day
The downpour is much needed
To help the foliage grow
But I must confess my eyes lit up
When I saw that colorful rainbow
The shower we got was steady
Though gone, it has left its mark
The ground is much too muddy
Upon the trails to now embark
My work is done, it's not quite noon
Whatever will I do with the day
I pause amidst my pondering thoughts
To realize I've been handed time to play
Ironic how we seem to think
Everything must go on as planned
When all we really need to do
Is accept the gift in God's outstretched hand

Dance like nobody is watching
Love like you've never been hurt

He always seems to know when we need a little break.  You just never know how He will reveal himself.  Wonderful write.  Welcome to Passions!

Very good poem, its all about perspective.  I like the way you talk about being open to new oppertunities. Don't overlook the posiblility of something unexpected just because its not going the way you planned.  Excellant poem.

So true! And we waste so much of our unexpected gifts. We do need to slow down and look around us don't we. We should get breaks at work just to smile and reflect. That would be hillarious wouldn't it! Everyone standing around smiling and looking so peaceful.   Great poem.
Sincerely,
Rwood
