Old Sol and River
Virginia Salter

Old Sol burns a hole
into the water,
stretches across grasses,
tickles trees
with summer warmth on their west,
as evening approaches,
bringing a cooling to their east

weeping birch
lengthens its arms,
caresses ground
and passers by.

sitting here in God’s world
heartbeat of river’s flow
ripples amber and rose,
as sun’s glow lows,

dips behind trees and hills,
a refreshing cool
kisses the back of my neck,
wraps its arms around my shoulders
tenderly serenading
me in serenity.

Virginia, can I visit this place too?!   Yet, again, you have an amazing way with words, this is so lovely laced with great imagery and calmness~

it's a grand place to be on a summer eve when the day's been hot

it was one of the concert's in the park I attended last year at Irrigon, Oregon's Marina park.

There's a Watermelon Festival there on July 28, this year.  It's always the last Saturday of July.  They'll have breakfast, a parade, entertainers, art and craft booths, snack shacks, the Smilin' Scandinavians from Seattle, a group that does German style music, Dan Burns disco supplied street (parking lot)  dance and light show. Come on over.  Just think you could tell your friends you spent Saturday in a place called: Irrigon, Oregon.
You could buy a t-shirt commemorating your experience for only $10.

Virginia, I felt the caress of this breeze as well in every line. I was transported into serenity of the moment. Especially, when the rain is slapping against my window as I write. Sure is a good diversion. Great way with words that paint an exquisite scene. I give this a   for sure!
Love and peace ((~.~))
