In a corporeal internship...

How long is "forever"?
Does "always" ever end?
Can Love take the endeavor
Of Truth, and not pretend?

Can promises endure
The trials of Time and Fate?
Can words still reassure
When some actions negate?

And how deep a depression
Must one experience
Before a changed impression
Begins to make some sense?

Mark - many questions there are in your writing. Perhaps all of them may not be able to be answered. I enjoy reading them...

Like this...lots!

Only certain promises

forever is eternity

not all promises can make it that long

but the most import ones can

and will

Wow, I liked this one very much.  The style, the word choice, it's work like this that I want to aspire to.  Thanks for sharing.

Mark, I wonder if the changed impression every really does make sense. Questions without answers..

Ah Mark, good questions! My moody muse and it's friend Imp wanted to make light of a few "answers" but I wouldn't let them! I told them to go to their room until they could come out and play properly!

Well done Sir...

Bill, the short-term ones will always get answered, albeit, sometimes not with what we'd have preferred to have heard or discovered, but it's the long-term questions which leave me ultimately pondering and challenge my idealism and optimism...  Thank you for your read and comments.

Thank you, Virginia for your read and comments, and you're probably right, but I've come to the conclusion that promises are not meant to be made, for it is beyond the typical human capacity of most people to deliver on them, even if the intent and motives were pure...

Thanks, for the read and comments, pure_innocence.  We can all learn from each other if we have the desire and choose to be proactive.  I'm glad you liked this and look forward to reading some of your poems soon.

Sandra, I think that the answers we learn are not always the ones we want to accept.  Truth is critical, but no one ever said that it would be pleasant...

Who knows, Sunshine, maybe they do have the real answers in their mischievous humor...?

Mark--Enjoyed thinking along with you about these things..and came to the conclusion that each day could be its own made and fulfilled promise...forever is so far away..and the best we can do is forgive ourselves and others in a future that is unsure.  Enjoyed your poem!

Martie, I like your conclusion, so let's simply be resolved with a positive frame-of-mind which will allow us to take each day of experience in stride and keep us growing towards the better...  Thanks for the read and thoughts.
