A Search Within

Befriend me challenger,
take me atop  mountain's peak
where eagles dance with the wind
and night meanders into day.

Befriend me brave warrior,
teach me about great wisdom
like, what sun and moon alone
have seen, that no man has.

Befriend me spirited ego,
invite me to the oceans' deep
where ancient relics are always
found in the treasures of its soul.

Befriend me childhood memory,
transport me to the dark cavern
where snakes and rodents sleep
and rest between intruders, as I.

Befriend me unknown shadow
you, who cling at my heels,
you, who knows, (more then I)
where I've tripped and faltered.

Befriend me porter of knowledge,
answer the questions I fear to ask;
where eyes weep and hide
from exposure of earthly realities.

Befriend me wise spirited one,
alter my long weary journey
and direct me at the crossroads,
help me find my way.

Open my eyes Oh! Great Creator,
lead me to your garden
where peace reigns and one
never hungers or thirsts.

I have a smile from ear to ear!   I want to express my joy in meeting all of you that have commented on my poem. This place feels like home and it feels warm and loving.
I am looking forward to getting to know you better and reading more of your works of art.
I don't know the ropes too well yet... like, how to add funny faces and all.. and change the fonts to bold etc..... but, I will learn. Thanks again for your welcome...

Welcome, indeed.  You have come to the right place, for here you will find another "within"...  Many questions asked; many answers given;  and many, many more to be inspired.  Enjoyed your poem very much -- it gives one much to ponder in images that enhance the experience.

Oh Maggie, welcome to the best site of poets you have ever met, and what an entrance.  I am way behind but will catch up this weekend.  I sent you an email with some coding so you can do "pretty pictures".  I am so glad you are here, what an asset to the site you are going to be, with your inspirations and smiles.

this is a good poem but what i have to say is that on almost every reply i have seen here or elsewhere there has not been any constructive critisism. i think that rather than reply after reply of the same trite "good job"is what will make us all able to write better.

confused among strangers,
lost amongst myself.
