In a corporeal internship...

0 posted 2001-07-13 03:58 PM

I am stunned and cannot move
As I watch my heart be thrown away...
Circumstances up to you --
To live up to all you had to say...

Are you willing to foresake Destiny?
To ignore something that's meant to be?
To discard the Love between you and me?

Can't you see that you're headed for regret...
And your soul won't let you forget
The Love we shared since we first met
Listen to your heart:  it's not over... yet...

Tell me what kind of life's in store
If you let go of the real you...
Are you really prepared to ignore
This real Love between us two?

Do you really want to let it die?
And to give in to the ultimate lie?
Are you telling me that you won't even try?

Can't you see that you're headed for regret...
And your soul won't let you forget
The Love we shared since we first met
Listen to your heart:  it's not over... yet...

People seek
What we have found
In vain
For all their lives
Realize
That you're not bound,
For God
Helps her who strives...

How much more can I repeat
That you don't have to go through with it
You have two destinies at your feet...
How can you just "up-and-quit"?

And if what you told me was all true --
That you love me like you never knew --
Then there's only one thing left to do...

Can't you see that you're headed for regret...
And your soul won't let you forget
The Love we shared since we first met
Listen to your heart:  it's not over... yet...

Mark.. first I hope this is not reflective of today... I have loved and lost..as most of us have and it is a painful thing to live through...

as for the poem itself... wonderfully executed! Nice flow and rhyme..and the slight repitition accents the plea..
excellent work...

Now if it is reflective of today... me heart goes out to you...and I wish for you the best

Thank you very much, Ron.  This was written in 1998, actually, but the copyright filing is this year.  It's representative of a moment when there were some serious questions to be asked, all around, but through this song, some illumination was achieved.  I thank you for your consideration and compassion as well as your comments.

Good one, Mark. I have written more than I should admit to, along these lines. It is always hard to believe when someone does that.
Well written, with lots of heart.

Thank you, Sandra.  Seems "someone" is always doing "something"...

Very nicely written, Mark, and from the heart, with the soul giving forth with the truths of the moment.  Been there, done that myself, so know the depths of the write..gentle smile

Thank you, Logan, for the empathy and reply...  Moments like that really try one's belief system and attitudes, but the catch is to not succumb to bitterness or rash conclusions too soon.  Thank you for taking a moment to read this.
