Despite the critics, despite all the distance, Despite all my friends who doubt your loves existance, Despite all they say and all they try to do, Despite them saying we're too young for love so true, Despite the tears that fall from my eyes, Despite the stories of others' failed tries, Despite the disbelief of the path that I chose, I'm powered by things stronger than those. I'm powered by love, so strong and true, By the feeling of completeness that I get from you, By the dreams every night that always seem real, By the reassurance of the way that you feel, By the feeling in my heart that I'm doing right, By the memories I play in my head every night, Of the first time we met, of how happy we were, Of the first time we kissed and all was a blur, Of the joy I received in feeling your touch, Of hearing you say "I love you so much," Of the times we danced and of the times we cried, Of having someone with whom to confide, And so, I think, it's safe to conclude that this hard time apart is just a prelude to the happiness that we both dream of, if we don't give up hope and keep faith in our love. Hey, thanks for your comments. They mean a lot. Actually i wrote this awhile back...8 monthes after i wrote it, me and the girl it was for broke up because i became scared of the distance, and i tried my hand with another girl. Now however, I have the opportunity for a second chance with the inspiration of this poem. Wish me luck. Jeremy |
