I walk along the ocean blue
My thoughts slip quietly to you
Standing on the beach ahead
Seeking out the path you tread

You gaze out at the gentle waves
Whose lifeblood still quietly saves
Washing the stains of yesteryear
Making memories even more dear

What exactly was it that went wrong
Silencing your heart’s sweet song
Leaving me here sorrowful and sad
The victim of a passing fad

I wish I knew the answer now
Instead my eyes instinctively bow
Ashamed of all that’s been said
Leaving our love here for dead

No one can predict our fate
For each of us has unique traits
That allow us to be who we are
Taking us so very far

I know I played a part
In the locking of your heart
Perhaps I deserve my lot
Then again maybe not

You alone held the key
To all that our life could be
Choosing to go your own way
Kept my love safely at bay

This speaks softly and yet loudly, and I enjoyed every bit of it. I've said it before. Your work is growing it seems.

I don't know which came first the picture or your words..... but they compliment each other very nicely.  I could really feel the emotion from the one walking alone on the beach.  I also liked how you used the words, safely at bay.  Your post was beautifully displayed and I enjoyed the mood it brought very much.  -Bob

The ocean brings out so many memories for me, also.
I especially liked this part
"You gaze out at the gentle waves
Whose lifeblood still quietly saves
Washing the stains of yesteryear
Making memories even more dear

What exactly was it that went wrong
Silencing your heart’s sweet song
Leaving me here sorrowful and sad
The victim of a passing fad"

Be happy

Solemn, with much emotion and wisdom.  The lines which resonated with me were:
------------------------------------
My thoughts slip quietly to you

You alone held the key
To all that our life could be
Choosing to go your own way
Kept my love safely at bay
-------------------------------------

Somber, but powerful and a good read.
