A New Day

A heart that's lost
In depth of despair
A heart so lost
It's beyond repair

Lost in the shadows
Of darkest night
Lost in sorrow
And hate and fright

Trying to emerge
From the deepest hole
Hoping and searching
To find its soul

A glimmer of light
Slowly appears
Is it able to rise
Chase away the tears?

The darkness so heavy
The light so soft
Can it save the heart
That's gone aloft?

Light shines brighter
Dark drifts away
Hope is emerging
For a brand new day

I think as long as the hope is there, we can get through the darkest hours. Nicely done.

Very nice write, Cindi.  There is always hope, no matter how dark it seems.  Remember that and you will be just fine.

Given what I am going through right now regarding matters of the heart, this poem really touches me. The lines "lost in sorrow...and hate and fright" perfectly describe the different feelings I am having.. sometimes all at once   Your positive ending reminds me that although everything may seem "dark" now, I know that eventually things will get lighter. It's that belief that keeps me smiling. Thanks for putting it into words so well.

I really love this one.  It merges from sad and dark to shine light on the hope that something better lies just around the corner!  Great job!
