The windsurfers dance on the white caps
They're at the mercy of the turbulent sea
How they make it look so easy
As they catch each and every breeze

The sand receives such a pounding
As the waves invade the shore
Back and forth many times they travel
As they've done a million times before

The seagulls huddle closely together
Trying to keep warm on the sand
There aren't too many lovers here
Walking along the beach hand in hand

The sand blows unforgivingly
So very easily it stings my eyes
There's not much color in this day
Amongst the cloudy grey skies

Like a huge helping hand the wind pushes me
As I struggle on my journey by the sea
A brief patch of sun breaks through the clouds
And so warmly it envelops me

In the distance I see some children
Who send their kites way up high
A seagull struggles to stay in motion
Against the darkness of the sky

A blanket of darkness settles over the ocean
As the sun disappears behind the clouds
Hardly anyone is here now
Unlike the Summertime crowds

I wrap my arms tightly around me
In an attempt to keep myself warm
I now leave the angry seaside
As I can see the approaching storm

This reminded me of a time I spent near the ocean recently and of the feeling of not wanting to leave!  It carried me away back to that time and I have such a cherished memory of it.  I'm so glad I am a speed reader and can enjoy all of the poetry I do!

This was a nice change from the usual poems that I have read about the sea.....  I liked the image of the windsurfers because it gets real windy here in California and I so often see them out on the lake as well.  I think the power of the sea offers it's romantic charm as well and I enjoyed reading your rendition of it.

SueTang~
You captured the sea in her fury ...
Very well portrayed.
Your rhyme was wonderful and I greatly enjoyed this piece.
