~* Last Night I Saw An Angel Dance *~

© Mysteria 2001

I awoke this morning from a rumpled bed,
Where a weary, mourning, soul had slept not.
In the mirror I saw no mortician washing his hands,
Instead there was a woman cherishing all she’s got.

An angel of mine had tended to my broken heart,
And through some trickery I saw her dance.
She told me to cherish every second of this day,
And to remember at this life I only get one chance.

I saw my reflection through sparkling, blue eyes.
A face with subtle etching of life’s incisive artwork.
I no longer mourned my dead days of youth.
This newfound wisdom even caused a morning smirk.

Through the distortion of life’s gentle breeze,
And a stark and final interference of reality,
Happiness and sadness revealed their true nature;
I was forced to take a hard look at my own mortality.

The sad darkness in my eyes and my heart,
Quickly were washed away with a new, exciting glance.
The beautiful light of friendship and memories,
Filling dark shadows; last night I saw an angel dance.

The outcome of life’s path is never certain,
Just as each day you plan is not;
Take inventory of all your blessings now,
And just be thankful for what you’ve got.

I have faced the truth, and the day will come
When from this plain I will have to depart,
I am on borrowed time, so I have to make the most of it,
And the main thing will be – how did I share my heart?

Yes, now I look in the mirror and see a woman I know,
She calmly gazes back at me content with life in every way,
Her eyes are now bright pools of clear love and truth,
I sigh, and wonder how to enjoy this wonderful day.

Yes last night I saw a beautiful red-haired angel dance,
A vision so crystal clear I felt I was there too,
The most beautiful part of this wonderful vision,
Was learning another life lesson soon to be passed onto you.

Wise thoughts in here.....life is too short to complain about what we don't have, rather than enjoying what we do.....

Very profound in years of wisdom and a deep sentiment as well to see yourself as forever young, I believe the angel within you certainly has a few more dances left to dance.  Wonderful reflections.

Sharon~

'Awwwwww!'  This is so tenderly beautiful.  I love angel themes, and you incorporated that into your heartfelt words wonderfully.  And you know how much I love Steve Hanks' artwork, an excellent presentation here~
