take these tears

Lord, you are still here?
’cause I feel awfully alone today.
I need your help to reason.
I need your help to sustain.
These unruly tears, they have no basis-
the source from which they well
has more than enough reasons
to be thankful-
this morning I am breathing
and moving with a tolerable
amount of pain,
the sun is shining and
last night’s rain has freshly
washed the world.
Music fills my ears and
my hands are busy...
with your blessings my Lord,
I am surrounded.
Though I am but a singular
of the many for whom you hung
I have faith,
that without my finding the reasons,
you will understand
when I say
that today it hurts to be
me.

is this, jellybeans, written from the experience of your last days and moments with your late friend...or are you experiencing them first hand

this is powerfully poignant and makes me think a one of the most important books I've ever read, beyond the Bible...Tuesday's with Morrie  have you read it?

no, this is first hand, this is my struggle, I try to put it to words, so that when I win my fight I will have record of the battle

and no I haven't read it, but will see if I can find it.....thank you

A personal struggle makes it very hard to say anything from where I sit, except that my thoughts are with you as you do...

this is well written and I think when your battle is won..the record would do other a lot of good... glad you are writing it...

---------------------------------

I hope you don't mind me stealing your words... but this title and these opening lines cry out "suthern, this is your life!" *S* So I knew I was going to love the rest of the poem... even if it hurt. *S*

---------------------------
you will understand
when I say
that today it hurts to be
me.
----------------------------

He certainly should understand. *S* Counting our blessings might help... but that doesn't make the pain go away... and you've written that truth very well. *S*

I know about struggle and finding hope and faith, and this poem really spoke to me. Whatever you do remember you deserve to be happy.  Don't let anyone or anything rob you of that.  Keep on writing and releasing the pain, whatever the cause of it is.  Be strong!
