Before you dried them,
I felt the tears I was crying were eroding my very being away,
you came to me,
and made the night quiet,
and sleep rest.
Your softly whispered words of kindness and encouragement spoke volumes to me,
You made me believe I was more than just a girl to be used,
and taught me I could be so much more than what others had convinced me I was.
You coloured in my existence, made things bright again,
and washed away the shades of gray that had surrounded me,
You saw that I was fading and pulled me back from the brink,
and nutured me until I came back into focus,
Now we are not together in the same way that we were,
But I will never forget and always be gratful,
That you taught me...a better song to sing
