A silent house stood, dark and still
Within a forest green.
And in that house, a sleeping child
Held on to her dreams.
The stars were shining bright, that eve
And lit the ivory moon
Which hung upon a silver string
As it swayed to midnight's tune.
The little child's teddy bear
Awoke with furry ears
For the sleeping girl was found awake
Wiping 'way her tears.
A monster lived beneath her bed
A horrid, scaly thing
And every time she closed her eyes
She heard that monster sing...
The teddy hugged her quivering arm
And told her of the skies
And stars that made her wishes true
When she closed her eyes.
And when she opened up her eyes
She was riding on the moon
And with her hand, she swirled the skies
In all its twilight bloom.
A shining star was burning bright
As the moon passed quickly by
And the little girl reached out to touch
The diamond in the sky.
She tipped and whops! she slipped and fell
As teddy held her sleeves
And flying for a moment, they landed soft
Within a bed of leaves.
Her dreams that night brought blissful thoughts
Of dancing in the sky
Yet by her head, a golden leaf
Lay quietly nearby.

(...and sometimes when the music whispers softly in your ears,
take some time to dream a dream and put aside your fears...)

Stars for everyone! ^_^ This being a recent cook up, it's fresh and new, and on sale! Actually, no. 'Tis mine. ^_^; *huggles the teddy*
I hope everyone had a great spring break (that rhymed!) and hope you all catch those shining stars...they're meant to be yours. ~_^ Until next time...

take some time to dream a dream and put aside your fears..."

Wow, Leah..
as usual I LOVE your imagery in this piece.. it's so beautiful! Most of the time I prefer to read the darker poems but this one is really great and somehow reaches deep into my soul *thinks : I'm not a girl.. gotta remember*

This is so sweet, and it makes me dare to hope. Thank you for the encouragement I found in this poem.
