On the evening of 9-10-01 I was in my room
Writing a letter to Justin Michael
Crying, thinking of my own problems
Not expecting the world to change overnight
I stared at the TV in disbelief, and a tear in my eye
Suddenly, my own problems seemed insignificant
In the months since, it’s hard to think
Of how the world changed back in September
A building engulfed in flames and smoke
And more planes were on their way
Not a cloud in the sky, just like today
The sky seemed so eerily calm
For the next few days, without a plane in site
Looking at the TV, buildings collapsed
NYC’s Skyline changed completely
A chunk of it is gone –
While the Statue of Liberty still stands
Today – 6 months later, life has changed
Flags flying – Patriotism is at a peak
I even hear the Bald Eagles are coming back
With more sightings since that September day…

I may not be from NY, or have any family from there, but I deeply sympasize with all of NY. You nicely portrayed how many of us felt, our problems so insignificant to what happened. I really enjoyed your poem!
